When you’re working on getting rid of clutter in your Long Island home and find yourself holding onto items because you think someone else might find them useful, consider trading with your family friends at a swap party. By swapping items, you declutter your home while encouraging other to get organized.

Group motivation

Eliminating clutter and organizing your home is challenging, but involving friends and family gives group motivation to keep working. When you set the date for a swap party, that gives all of you a deadline for organization, rewards you for hard work, and encourages you to eliminate items because you don’t want to show up without items to trade.

Keep it useful

When you’re getting rid of clutter in your Long Island home, there are certain items like broken electronics and toys that you need to toss instead of trade. Bringing obvious junk to a swap party may make people feel obligated to take it, even if they don’t need it and that’s counterproductive to everyone’s tidying efforts. Bring only useful, working items to the swap party unless you know someone at the party loves fixing things.
